Artist Statement: Journey of a Soul

The Journey of a Soul is finished! I still have some more images to upload there are 37 total. 

I have Native American roots and my grandmother who passed last June was very connected to the spiritual side of that culture. This has influenced my work as she would speak to me about her spiritual journey and her spirit animal the buffalo. I looked online and found a list of spirit totems for various Native American tribes and using some of their legends I was inspired to create this body of work. 

The series is a journey where the soul begins and will end. This concept that a soul must have all these life experiences before it can be a human shows the growth of a soul. How you change with life experiences and how some is preordained.  Eventually, this work will be compiled into a book that I have written “The Journey”.
